Every body in business wants customers but how many businesses or affiliates are willing to invest time to build relationships to attain customers?
I can bet you the percentage of businesses actually engaging and giving value is far less than the businesses pitching .
And why is this the case ?
Short term “I need it now “
Look at the example below. ” I have the latest merchandise and best prices in town you don’t want to miss this sale “
To be honest if I do not know you and you pitch to me randomly I will grow a distaste for you brand.
I don’t like the idea of being pitched by some one I rarely or don’t know without building some rapport .
Even after you build rappor you have to convert people into buyers .
Making Customer aqisition is not just about money and ads .
Whilst your mind is fixated on selling your products the people you are marketing too are focused on their needs and you should be too.
If you push too much people will get turned off and go else where to shop .
The rules and guidelines are simple but simplicity requires work .
Business owners ,Affiliates, Investors Startups most of which are looking for a quick buck .
Unfortunately chasing quick money creates short term thinking .
To get customers you have to hustle and be of value.
Yes I know you are the business owner but you have to get up off your high horse.
This means you have to be where your customers .
Value is the number 1 technique in acquiring customers .
If you are just starting out like me you have to do all the ground work and As time goes on you can hire a team of people around you .
In other words delegate the task .
People love to be listened to and responded to in a timely professional manner .
If you can remove ,cast aside your ego and start viewing yourself as servant of value that is when doors will open .
We keep thinking that we are superior because we own businesses.
The answer to that is No we are not employees but we we have to listen and respect people otherwise .
Every customer you get is a customer you earned.
Getting customers and keeping customers requires effort.
I look at customers not only as means to make money but more importantly build relationships.
Chasing money will lead you to desperate measures like trying to convince people to buy from you .
When you are of value the money and people will follow hence why it has been wisely said “chase the values and the money will follow.”
Priorities and habits really really matter .
Knowing and understanding that just because you are an entrepreneur people don’t respect you and buy from you automatically.
Not every person you bargain with is going to be a worthy customer however In a perfect world that would be the case .
We don’t live in a perfect world .
I know the feeling of getting your first customers is exciting .
Putting in the work to acquire customers you also have to put in the work to maintain them .
Once you start raking in sales and clients you have to be prepared .
People are vocal and subject to change.
- Customer complaints
- Customer refunds
- Are just a few of the items that you have to have thick skin dealing with .
I have seen marketers start from the bottom and then get complacent.
People are tired of getting the short end of the stick and as a result they have become more resistant and hesitant to buy .
For those of you out there executing a customer orientated plan I salute you.
Some people will monitor your brand for years without buying .
The one thing They will never forget is how you make them feel.
This is why it’s important to stay active in the market and keep showing appreciation even when you reach the pinnacle.
The pandemic has shown us how important it is for residents to support their local businesses so that they can stay afloat.
Imagine if you was making a good profit before the pandemic but your earnings declined when the pandemic hit .
Do you think the people that you mistreated prior to that will support your business ?
My answer is a simple because when times were good you was treating people bad .
It’s not always gonna be bloom and gloom .
Customers are the most important aspect of business .
In order for cash to circulate people have to spend .
If people aren’t spending , employers and employees aren’t going to make money.
For an economy to thrive we need people working ,building and investing and spending.
As business owner you have to think about it .
Employees don’t take on debt and risk like an employer however bad business practices on your behalf has an indirect effect on your employees.
Treat people with respect and integrity at all times ,even the people are verbally abusing you .
Remember you are in a position of influence and authority and you don’t want to ruin it .
With that being said you have every right not take on every customer .
Some people are out to cause mayhem.
In this world of business patience is a virtue.
Short term thinking makes you think you have to acquire the customer now .
The Fact of the matter is you don’t have to convince anyone to buy from you.
Coach them through the sales process which means you shouldn’t give up if you don’t make the same immediately.
People have to warm up and get accustomed to you.
Following up having genuine conversation will help you win more customers.
You would win customers over from your competitors that dropped the ball .
Short term goals are important .
Relationship building takes time and is a way to build a sustainable business.
Looking back at some of the mistakes I made as a marketer my new outlook gives me the knowledge and authority to empower you .
Customer appreciation goes a long way.
When you show interest in people they will definitely appreciate it and remember you .
Yes there are people that troll and try to Scam as will always be the case but you have to put safety measures in place and respect every one.
Me personally I am able to pick up on dis in genuine people .
I can tell by the first few words a person speaks whether or not they are a qualified customer.
I would rather not make a sale than have to deal with a spiteful person.
Feed back and disgruntled people is something you have to deal with .
It is guaranteed that some people will slip through the cracks and cause chaos but you can always give them a refund to eliminate the problem.
Please do not make offers and guarantees that you aren’t going to honor.
For example (Money back guaranteed after 30 days )
People have become accustomed to sales pitches like that but there are people that will buy into it .
If you make a promise you better make sure that you full fill it if not you will destroy your credibility .
Conclusion
Make people a priority budget appropriately, invest, reinvest outsource ,build and entrust a team of people around you.
